Good topic, I have smallish hands and have spent a lot of time working on manipulating the firearm to be able to release the magazine on my full-size M&P, my shield plus is not as much an issue, so I carry it. Has a 4″ barrel,

Topic: Ergonomically correct full-size and compact pistol frame for average-size hands

Question 01: How does one maintain proper grip (e.g. no canting, no rotating grip) and proper muzzle discipline throughout the reload procedure?
      • At various times throughout the 21 Day Alpha Shooter course, you have mentioned that you have small hands.
      • The Day 3 printout mentions to your book, “Tactical Firearms Training Secrets”, which, on page 27, you state that “most people can’t touch the mag release button with their thumb when they have a proper grip on the firearm. To fix this problem, most people “cant” their firearm or rotate it in their grip … and have poor muzzle discipline during the procedure.”
o KUDOS on your book “Tactical Firearms Training Secrets”.

Request 01: I am requesting that you and the other Training instructors consider adding your influential voice to encourage handgun manufacturers to increase their market share by manufacturing full-size and compact handguns that provide a more ergonomic fit in average or smaller hands. Hopefully, this will enable the sporting outlets to have options so as to stop funneling this niche of consumers toward revolvers and to subcompacts.

      BACKGROUND

Whether in the office environment or in the field, the tool should be ergonomically designed to fit the user instead of having the user contorted to fit the tool.

A significant segment of the handgun market is clamoring for a solution: either provided by the manufacturer or improvised by the individual.
      • YouTube has several videos showing how to reduce the grip on a Glock.
      • For an S&W example, one consideration is removing ALL manufacturer-provided interchangeable palmswell grip inserts for a full size M&P 40, so as to finally be able to reach the aftermarket extended magazine release.

I do not want a subcompact. I do not want a revolver.

I want a full-size handgun having the longer sight alignment for improved aiming accuracy and the longer barrel length for a more complete burn of propellants resulting in a reduction of muzzle flash, which is helpful noting your Day 8 statement that “80% of self-defense encounters occur in low light”.

I want to be able to reach the trigger while allowing for a gap between third digit of trigger finger and gun frame. I want to be able to activate the magazine release without having to abandon a strong-hand firing grip by repositioning my strong hand to activate the magazine release and then to reposition my strong hand once again to reacquire a firing grip.

Thanks, in advance, for any and all assistance in the resolution of this matter.

      • Reloading is mentioned in D09 (Emergency Reloads) and D12 (Tactical Reloads).

o Thanks for recommending the use of the left thumb for releasing the slide stop and the suggestion for adding serrations on the side of SIRT (e.g. Glock 17/22) to indicate slide stop.

o Q01: Having average-size hands, I am still unable to reach the aftermarket extended magazine release with my right thumb resulting in advice to reposition the pistol in order to reach the mag catch with one’s strong-hand thumb and then reposition the pistol a second time so as to reacquire the fighting grip. Any suggestions?

o Q02: In preparation for efficient reloading, should the magazines in the vertically positioned magazine pouch be facing forward, which requires two axis of rotation (e.g. forward-to-backwards and then 6 o’clock-to-12 o’clock) or facing backwards, which requires one axis of rotation (e.g. 6 o’clock-to-12 o’clock)?
